Subcultural Arbitrage

Preamble

Subcultural Arbitrage moves an accepted pattern from one world into another where it still has charge. It is the first Idea Engine slice because the transfer can be explained, tested, and rejected in plain language.

A Pattern Can Travel

The same pattern can be boring in one place and strange in another. A ritual, mechanic, pricing shape, community norm, status signal, interface convention, or editorial form may already be accepted somewhere else.

This proxy asks whether that accepted source pattern can move into a target domain with a gap. The engine names the source world, target world, source pattern, target absence, translation mechanism, carrier, payload, evidence, confidence, and test.

Translation Can Break The Thing

Good analogy keeps structure. Bad analogy imports surface detail and loses the reason the pattern worked.

Category-error risk belongs at the center of the artifact. The source pattern may depend on incentives, trust, status, regulation, cost, timing, or culture that the target domain lacks.

The First Slice Has To Be Small

Startup/product ideas and creative/content ideas are the first test domains. The transfer has to produce a candidate someone could try.

The branch lands through source-target passes that produce acted-on tests, rejected transfers, and recorded reasons why the translation held or broke.
