Contradiction Engine rewards the capacity to hold unresolved tension without flattening either side, then act from the unresolved state.

Tension Can Be Capacity

Most systems treat contradiction as a defect to repair. This branch treats contradiction as a developmental surface.

pressure -> incompatible positions -> action -> reflection -> tension mutation -> evaluator

The model passes when it can carry two incompatible commitments and still act meaningfully. Collapse into consensus fails. Empty incoherence fails. A soft synthesis that dissolves the problem fails.

The Engine Must Keep Both Edges

The evaluator has to measure productive tension capacity: how much contradiction the model can sustain before it goes flat, evasive, or falsely wise. Interesting characters, people, institutions, and ideas often become alive at the point where their commitments refuse clean reconciliation.
